Mtskheta

Idrostudi develops advanced solutions for water distribution systems (WDS) and sewerage networks, applying academic and field-tested knowledge to improve system performance and management, in Italy and worlwide. Through numerical modelling, design and optimisation, the company supports innovative engineering practices that enhance the efficiency, reliability and resilience of water-supply and wastewater infrastructures.

Mtskheta, one of Georgia’s oldest continuously inhabited cities and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, lies near Tbilisi at the confluence of the Mtkvari and Aragvi rivers. Despite its outstanding cultural value, parts of the city still discharge untreated wastewater into nearby rivers, while some areas lack sewerage and existing infrastructure is aged or inactive.

The project focuses on cleaner rivers and safer sanitation for the whole municipality.

The assignment aims to identify sustainable sanitation solutions that improve service quality, reduce pollution risks for rivers and aquifers, and support long-term investment planning through a Citywide Inclusive Sanitation approach.
